You don’t make a photograph just with a camera. You bring to the act of photography all the pictures you have seen, the books you have read, the music you have heard, the people you have loved.

— Ansel Adams

I got my hands on my first camera at the age of eight, and I have been exploring and discovering life through the lens ever since. Catching a moment in time is exciting - each moment is new, and this is beautiful. I find photography so rewarding because of the powerful and enduring role the image plays in our lives. We can gain an understanding, both of ourselves and the world around us, as viewers of images. The many inherent associations photographs possess, at times seemingly opposing in nature, speak to the richness of the art form: documentation, performance, information, distortion, publicity, privacy, desire, censorship, expression, artistry, time and memory, life and death, to name but a handful.

I’m fascinated by the full spectrum of the observational and performative approaches to photography, and I believe they can be equally rewarding. The Swiss-American photographer Robert Frank said: “Above all, life for a photographer cannot be a matter of indifference”. This philosophy resonates deeply with me, because it means being present - with sharp eyes and ears, and not least an open heart.

People fascinate me, and I love capturing interesting personalities - through fashion, movement, performance and portraits. Among other things, I’ve really enjoyed covering street style at Fashion Week in London, Paris, Copenhagen and Stockholm, as well as working with fashion brands and influencers.

Expressing myself through different mediums has always been fundamental to me, both as an artist and as a person. Apart from being a photographer, I’m a conservatoire-trained classical pianist and piano teacher (BMus, MA, LRAM), and a qualified yoga teacher (vinyasa flow & restorative yoga).

I am passionate about developing as an artist and as an educator, and to let my varied interests and my desire to learn continually lead and inspire me.

My photography work has been featured in The Guardian, The Times, The Observer, Empire Film Magazine and The International Piano Magazine.
